SCC News Summary 2022

Back to Seattle Coin Club!

The SNS has decided to resume using the name "Seattle Coin Club," originally one of the two clubs which merged in 2003. This change will take effect in January 2023, 20 years after the SNS was formed. We'll keep you advised about this change. The website will remain the same for now.

Meeting Date & Location

The SNS resumed having in-person meetings in 2022, and also returned to the Tukwila Community Center, still on the second Thursday of each month!

New meeting location: Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Ave S, Tukwila, WA. The meeting time is now from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., due to staff shortages and early closing on most weeknights.

Previous meeting location (Dec. 2021 to Aug. 2022): Angelo’s Restaurant banquet room, 601 SW 153rd St, Burien, WA. The second Thursday of each month was the regular meeting day, with meetings starting at 6:30 p.m.

2022 Meeting Programs:

  • December 8, 2022 meeting. Held at the Tukwila Community Center. The table topic was War Time. Elections were held for 2023 club officers.

  • November 10, 2022 meeting. Held at the Tukwila Community Center. The table topic was Politics/Political, and there were four displays from the six members and one guest in attendance. In addition, there was an election reminder: Nominations were announced, and the current Board was nominated for 2023. Elections will be held in December. Club Name Change: The club will return to the name Seattle Coin Club beginning in January.

  • October 13, 2022 meeting. Held at the Tukwila Community Center. The table topic was Women. In addition, Rick discussed the turnout at the Washington State Fair and thanked all those who volunteered to staff the coin booth. Rick briefly discussed the PNNA fall coin show and how much fun it was!

  • Washington State (Puyallup) Fair. The PNNA had a table in the Hobby Hall for the entire duration of the Fair again in 2022. See the PNNA website Fair page for more information. The PNNA sponsors the annual coin exhibit, with assistance from several local coin clubs including the SNS. No volunteer is knowledgeable about all aspects of numismatics — if your question wasn't answered or if you were unable to attend the Fair, please e-mail your question to info@pnna.org, and it will be directed to a local expert. The PNNA's Hobby Hall coordinator is Rick Schulz.
